MikeSanders,

Sorry about the mix-up with names. I've made that correction.

Given how sketchy the game is--horrible game play, blatantly stolen music, etc.--it's pretty easy for imaginations to run wild regarding Active's reputation.

And by the way, thanks for all your research on this one. You've certainly written the book on Active Enterprises.

Oh. By the way, during the time of the weird e-mails, I did check into Perri's past to make sure I wasn't dealing with some sort of potentially dangerous individual. An affiliation with organized crime was actually a persistent, <b>and ultimately false</b>, rumor about Active Enterprises. The "dirt" in Perri's history is limited to a minor 1990 legal squabble that forced him to pay a small restitution. (This case is public record.)

Active was an apparently completely legitimate game company. They just had the misfortune to suck really badly at what they did.

I figured I'd note here that you made an attribution error. The NES Warp Zone article was written by me, not Jason Smith. The link to the page even credits me, and that can be seen here: http://www.neswarpzone.com/unlicensed.html

It was written about seven and a half years ago. At the time, the site was still operated by Dave "TRM" Allwein.

I'm also credited for its publication on NES World, which is available here: http://www.nesworld.com/ae-search.php
